Just got an email from Black Belt Magazine’s Chief Editor, telling me that they are gearing up for a big feature on Bruce Lee.
Here is the cool thing, he emailed me personally to get my opinion for an article they are doing. Here is the important part of the email:
“Matt,
We’re preparing a big feature about Bruce Lee and jeet kune do.
The story will focus on several well-known martial artists’ opinions of Lee’s most important teachings.
So, the $64,000 question is:
If you had to teach a student only ONE technique (the straight lead, the hook kick, etc.), ONE principle (for example, the Progressive Indirect Attack) or ONE concept (example: using no way as way), what would it be and why?
If you want to be part of this Bruce Lee cover story, please e-mail me a graph or two on this topic as soon as possible.
Thanks.

Obviously I’m delighted to be seen as a “well known martial artist”. Secondly, kind of stressful, for two reasons:
1. There are so many things I could write about, I don’t know where to start. Yikes!
2. I have a “project” I’m “starting” on Monday, which will literally take up all my time. I’ll let you guys in on all of the details through the “Student Only” blog in a couple weeks. Therefore, I have to write this in about 3 days.
That is why I’m turning to you. Post any ideas you guys have… I have a couple in my head, but would love to hear your opinion. If you’re having trouble posting, simply email me.
Hopefully we’ll see my “opinion” in Black Belt, next to some real “well known martial artists” in what seems to be an awesome feature.
Thanks!
Lee, Love and Life,
Sifu
