First off, let me start this by thanking Matt and Stephanie for taking me to workout with them. For those of you that have never worked out with Matt, or wonder what his workouts are like, then hopefully this will offer you some insight into his regime.
Matt is probably the most dedicated and hardworking individual that I have worked out with. I have done a lot of martial arts training sessions with Matt, but had never really had the chance to see what it is that he does outside of martial arts to keep his abilities and strength up. I have done a lot of practices and lifting regimes for various sports throughout my years, but I can honestly say that this regime was extremely tough. If you haven’t ever lifted weights, or it’s been a long time since you have, then I highly suggest that you start off light and DO NOT try this workout with heavy weights.
Now for the workout. I will list the movements first, then the number of sets, and lastly the number of reps. For example:
bench press 2×3
This would be bench press for the movement, two sets of three repetitions.
Here’s the workout that we did:
Calf raises 8×10
Crunches 8×10
Incline barbell press 8×10
Standing bent over rows 8×10
Military press 8×10
Squats 8×10
The sets were completed with minimal rest in between sets. When you get through with the fourth set, then you take a quick break.
As I stated before, this workout was extremely tough. When you first start out, the weight will seem light, but just wait. By the time you get done with the last set, your muscles will be burning and the weight will seem 10 times heavier than it did on the first set.
I was pretty sore by the end of the workout. I thought that I would be a lot more sore than I was today though. Don’t get me wrong, I am still sore, but I haven’t really worked out by lifting that hard in a long time. Since I haven’t lifted like that in a long time, I thought that I would be so sore that I couldn’t move today.
Matt and Steph have been doing this workout for the past 4 weeks, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I only did it one day. (I would love to keep doing this workout though, I really liked it). And for those of you who have been following the blogs, Matt and Steph have also been detoxing for the past 4 weeks as well. If you have been following along with the detox, you know how tough this would be.
My hat’s off to Matt and Steph for their dedication. Ecspescially Stephanie, because she was keeping up with Matt. (or should I say putting up with him
)
