1st and 2nd Best Self-Defense Weapon?

The second best self-defense weapon is pepper spray, no doubt about it. The problem is that pepper spray is as misunderstood as many of Bruce Lee’s teachings. Here are some things you have to know:

-Why “mace” does not work on some attackers

-The difference between an irritant and inflamitory agent

-What “type” of spray is the best (there are 4 different ones)

-Why just buying a sprayer at the local Walgreens is the wrong thing to do

-The proper technique for spraying an attacker (and 3 mistakes almost every beginner makes)

-What is the best commerical pepper sprayer, from the 100’s which are offered on the market

-How some of the 9/11 attackers used pepper spray to create a barrier during the hijackings

-Why most pepper sprayer make it impossible to use them during a real life attack

-The different needs between law enforcement, civilians, men, and women

I’ll be covering these items at my upcoming Pepper Spray seminars at the Bloomingdale (Chicago suburbs) and Rockford , IL locations. In the meanwhile check out the clips we have from our Pepper Spray DVD, located in the video gallery.

But now the question is, what is the 1st BEST self-defense tool? Write back your thoughts!

Lee, Love, and Life,

The best tool is your mind… Awareness is probably acceptable as well. Your mind does it all. It can be proactive or reactive. It can calm your body – or tell it to fire an intense combination of elbows, eye rakes, knees, and head butts! Developing one’s emotions is a complete necessity as well. It goes hand in hand with the development of one’s mind. Bruce Lee taught tons on the development of one’s mind. Stay tuned, I’ll be adding more soon!

If you mean best physical weapon, maybe a taser, but I would have to agree with the previous responses that awareness is #1.

I’m going to quote Bruce Lee from Enter The Dragon, “The art of fighting, without fighting.” My 1st BEST self-defense tool is psychology. If you can verbally de-escalate the situation and not have to involve yourself in a physical altercation, great. While attempting to do so, be aware of your surroundings (ie. number of attackers, weapons involved, area altercation is taking place, innocent bystanders, equailizers, etc). If verbal de-escalation doesn’t work, go to plan B. Plan B would be……..up to you.

The best self-defense “weapon” is Awareness! Which means I’m in trouble.
